Guntersville, Alabama – Exciting Weekend Events Across the Tennessee Valley

Residents and visitors in the Tennessee Valley are in for an action-packed weekend from June 6-8, featuring a variety of community events, festivals, and celebrations. Highlights include the Guntersville Lake HydroFest, a Military Appreciation Night hosted by Huntsville City FC, and Burritt’s 70th Anniversary celebration, among other local happenings.

The Guntersville Lake HydroFest will take place from June 6-8, showcasing thrilling hydroplane and powerboat racing at speeds of up to 200 mph. This high-octane event promises excitement on the water, drawing spectators from near and far.

On June 6, Huntsville City FC will host its Military Appreciation Night at Wicks Family Field, beginning at 7 p.m. The match against Orlando City B will feature military displays and a dramatic Black Hawk helicopter flyover, celebrating the local military community.

For families, the Wally Vess Youth Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, June 7, from 7-10 a.m. at Brahan Spring Park offers children aged 6-12 a chance to experience fishing and outdoor fun.

Another community favorite, the Burritt’s 70th Anniversary celebration, will occur on June 8 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring live music, barbecue, and various attractions to celebrate the rich history and culture of Burritt on the Mountain.

The 250th Army Birthday Celebration will be held on June 7 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Redstone Gateway. This event honors the Army’s long history with live entertainment and a ceremonial cake-cutting.

In addition, numerous local markets and events will take place over the weekend, including the First Saturday Farmers Market in Athens on June 7 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., featuring the Sweet Southern Classics Day and nearly 50 local vendors.

For those looking to engage in some family activities, the Family Dance Hour offers line dancing fun for all ages on June 6 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The LEGO Father’s Day Paddle event, scheduled for June 8 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., invites participants aged 6 and up to enjoy a paddling adventure at participating locations.

Community members can also look forward to the weekly First Fridays in Florence event, occurring from June 6 to November 7, with free activities starting at 5:30 p.m. Additionally, the Golden Hour at the Garden takes place every Friday until September 26, offering live music and food for a fee of $12 for non-members.

The Summer Fun at Harrison Brothers is set for June 6 and 7, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with games and snacks available for families. Alternately, the Outdoor Market at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment will be open on Saturdays through October 25 from 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Fridays are also filled with community engagement through the Family Bingo Nights at Urban Cookhouse: Whitesburg at 6 p.m., catering to all ages, and the First Fridays Family Fun Night at Piper & Leaf from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring yard games and a hot dog cookout.

Finally, the Market at MidCity happens every Sunday from 12-4 p.m., showcasing local vendors and live music, highlighting the region’s commitment to fostering local culture and community engagement.
